Luxe Blanket - Double - Champagne Grey
Luxe Blanket - Double - Champagne Grey
One-of-a-kind Kantha stitched luxe double blanket.
- Features a luxury remnant sari fabric on one side with upcycled soft cotton layers hand stitched together and a cotton outer layer on another.
- Double size: 200cm x 200cm
- Each blanket unique in pattern and colours
A regal and luxurious double blanket features an exceptional fabric with a satin finish and often features embroidered motifs or hand painting. It is a fabric usually reserved for weddings and special events in Bangladesh. Basha has created this blanket from unused remnants of this luxe fabric and pairs it with upcycled cotton saris.
Each side features a different fabric. It takes hours of careful hand stitching in even and straight rows with six layers of saris to create this beautiful piece of work.
Kantha is an ancient craft of stitching. Many saris have been repurposed over the generations rather than in a landfill. We think Basha's artistry is some of the best in its region!

Colour and Pattern: We have attempted to capture this blanket's colours and patterns. The fabric is recycled cotton on one side and the repurposed luxe fabric on the other. The luxe side of this blanket is a very light silver which quickly picks up the hues in the room. In the product photos, you can see this where some look like pale lilac; in others, it is more flaxen.
It is very soft and snuggly, along with the endearing signs of some fading. In thinning cotton areas, the tradition is to carefully sew a patch from the same sari over this portion, and each blanket may feature this craft. If you would prefer to see more photos of a specific blanket, don't hesitate to contact us; we would be happy to supply you with them.

Meet the Makers
The women of Basha are living examples of transformation. Each woman who was once vulnerable to exploitation is now secure. She is working in a safe and caring work environment, paid a livable wage and has had a savings program established. Each one is given life skills training and specific training for her role in the Basha enterprise, according to her abilities and dreams. So she takes great pride in her work, and if you have the delight of owning one of the blankets she has hand-stitched you will find her signature is in the corner of the blanket.
